For the first time, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has appointed 426 individuals as an “auxiliary” force to assist in maintaining law and order in the capital during the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations.
DMP spokesperson and Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Talebur Rahman confirmed the development to the media today, stating, “We have already appointed 426 individuals as ‘auxiliary police officers’ to support law enforcement in crime prevention and security maintenance. They are acting as the ‘eyes of the police.’”
Initially, the auxiliary police officers were assigned to shopping malls and marketplaces to manage the heavy Eid rush. However, their deployment will soon extend to commercial and residential areas across the city.
To distinguish them, the auxiliary officers have been provided with pink-colored armbands featuring the DMP logo and the title “Sahayak Police Officer” (Auxiliary Police Officer). Additionally, they have received official appointment certificates.
